It's been a wonderful and productive year for us here at Adhesif Clothing Company!
We would like to wish you all Happy Holidays and all the very best in the year to come!
Adhesif Clothing will be closed from Dec24th and will re-open again on January 5th.
Although we believe in a strong work ethic we also believe that there are more important things in life like friends and family...after all isn't that really the true meaning of Christmas?
I myself was VERY excited when my brother (who has come all the way from Japan this morning, where he resides) came to visit me in the work studio today!
It was the first time he has been to our new shop since we opened this year! : ) Fun fun fun...
To you and yours, we here at Adhesif Clothing Company wish you love, brightness and warmth throughout the holidays and into the new year!

Have you strolled down Hawks Ave.?
Hawks Ave. started with the vision of creating a brand.
A brand that is part City, part Nature.
A brand that is part City, part Nature.
Gathering inspiration from the natural world around us, but grounded in the concrete jungles, that are the cities we live in. Hawks Ave. fuses elements of streetwear with bold graphics, rock and roll esthetic, and eco fabrics. Casual and sustainable clothing that will stand out in the crowd, combined with a very Westcoast vibe.
Hawks Ave. is sourced and manufactured in Vancouver, and we are proud to be a Canadian company. Sourced in your backyard, made in your neighborhood.
Wear what you want,
Buy our clothes,
Mix them with your own.

Do you have Poodlebreath??
Poodlebreath lives in Vancouver BC, Canada, where the owls are not what they seem. She's inspired mostly by nature, like raccoons and squirrels and some feathered creatures. Sometimes, if you listen closely enough, you can hear poodlebreath yipping with the coyotes in the night...
Melissa Pavlovic is behind Poodlebreath – a contemporary line of porcelain jewelry, sculptures and tableware. She has a Visual Arts Dergree from Emily Carr University of Art and Design, and went on to start a ceramic business from her home studio in Vancouver. Inspired by nature, Melissa’s work combines her love of animals and antiquities to create eye-catching porcelain heirlooms.
I can't tell you how thrilled I am to be carrying her incredibly imaginative works of art in our shop at 2202 Main...AND we just received a slough of new pieces last night in lovely colors of Emerald, Moss, Robins Egg, Amber, White etc.. So so so exciting! :)
Below are just a few image examples of pieces you can find at our shop Saturday, December 18, 2010

See my vest, see my vest...
Today I would like to talk about one of my favorite Fall-Winter items from our 2010 collection.
I have to admit I am completely obsessed with wearing my very own "Gents Vest"!
I for one love wearing vests and really love the quality and styling of vintage men's suit vests in particular. The problem is that most men's suit vests are boxy and of course designed for a man.
We've solved this dilema by reshaping and tailoring the vests to fit the contour of a women's figure.
Adhesif's "Gents Vest" is the perfect statement piece for layering and is a great way to add your own personal flare to any outfit!
This design was inspired by the androgynous styling of the 1930's
Details include a western style lapel, cut from reclaimed leather, as well as mismatched vintage glass and metallic buttons.
We replaced the back of the vests with an eraser style back made with a patchwork of mainly lambswool and cashmere sweaters.
I would also like to mention how awesome it is to have those little pockets that exist on the vest. I LOVE pockets! :)

I've been wearing my vest over top of my favorite little black dress or with a long sleeve tee and high waist knee shorts. Of course a simple
t-shirt and jeans is always an option.
Again, just a really great piece for layering.
We have at least a dozen in really great color combinations and compositions.

Reclaimed leather at it's finest by Montreal designer Cokluch
I came across Laurie & Christine's line "Cokluch" at my first participation in the One of a Kind Show and sale in Toronto back in 2008. I instantly became a fan of their work!
Aside from the fact that their craftmanship is unbelievably immpecable, the designs that this duo create are extremely stylish, slick and verstaile. All this AND their pieces are made with reclaimed leather! After having the chance to hang out with the duo over the last few years, I've had the chance to shop talk and swap stories about the trials and tribulations of creating clothing made out of reclaimed materials.
I recollect Laurie describing to me what they physically go through in terms of sourcing old leather jackets and coats for the creation of their amazing re-worked jackets, coats, bags etc.
They realize the importance of reducing our footprint on the environment, two young ladies come forward with an astute way of making fashion rhyme with responsible consuming.
They have a shop in Montreal at 410-A Villeray Street (ph: 514.273.5700) http://cokluch.com/boutique_en.html which coinsidentally also carries my own line Adhesif Clothing! *Snicker* I LOVE cross promotion!
You can find their very excellent pieces in 14 stores across Canada as well my own shop at 2202 Main Street Vancouver. See our website for shop hours

Below are some images of the "one of a kind" designs that are currently in our shop. Over the holidays, be sweet to yourself and mother earth and swing by and pick out your very own Cokluch item. Afterall holiday shopping is hard work, you deserve a reward!
The story begins in 2007, when Laurie Lemieux, a vivacious entrepreneur and BA. in Interior Design, and Christine Guérin, costumer for the Cirque du Soleil and Fashion Design graduate, became partners and founded Cokluch.

I can't tell you how statisfying it is to meet these fashionable kindred sisters, warriors of mother earth.

This is Adhesif Land
Hello earth ninja's and fashion conscious cyberfolk!
Welcome to Adhesif Land!
Being that this is our first ever post, let alone our first blog, I thought it would be pertinent to talk about our new flagship location at 2202 Main Street in Vancouver, BC.
This indeed is a very exciting time for our local indie label "Adhesif Clothing Company".
Since starting our line in 2007
(we'll just say it's 2007...oh the horror of the previous collections)
to opening our own shop on May29th of 2010 we have had great response from new and long time clients.
The shop not only carries our own eco friendly and whimsical, "one of a kind" in house label but also features the works of 16 other local and national talents, who are mostly all designers that work with some aspect of sustainability as well.
We are very excited about some of the amazing talent we have had the opportunity to meet along our travels like Melissa Pavlovic creator of "PoodleBreath". http://scoutmagazine.ca/2009/04/20/indie-profile-poodlebreath/
Melissa skillfully sculpts and hand molds frozen in time fairytale woodland creaturesn into pendants and brooches, as seen on the picture to the right.
Stay tuned, will deffinitely be talking more about our featured artists and designers within our future blog posts.
As if this isn't too cool enough we have also gotten a bit of a reputation for our "Too Cute To Cut" rack which is a selection of revamped lovelies as well as amazing vintage finds! This includes vintage shoes, belts, accessories and clothing and all starting at $16 and up..."what?!" you say?? It's all true!
This blog will be a juicy action packed fashion filled extravaganza
(maybe sometimes sprinkled with a bit of sarcastic political opposition) with what inspires our creations, what we absolutely LOVE...(of course while our attention isn't distracted by the next shiny object) what hidden treasures we encounter, what's happening, what's new, what's next and so forth and so on...
Stay tuned!
