Sweater Poet

I have a major sweater obsession.
I think it might very well be a Canadian thing...I was after all born in one of the coldest inhabitable places on earth. I remember growing up in the 80's in Montreal, Quebec...the sharpness of -40 wind, snow waist high...

I remember wiping down giant humps of snow to locate the family car and turning the back yard into our very own personal ice rink by throwing buckets of water onto the frozen solid ground.

Through it all I still remember my favorite childhood sweaters
(..aaaand the 80's had some pretty badass sweater btw)
I still recollect how my fave sweaters made me feel when I wore them.

Today it's vintage sweaters that tickle me pink!!
(I'm pointing at an applique heart in the pocket I sewed into the pocket of that magical 1950's reworked sweater I was modeling)

Funny thing too...my love of sweaters turned into a passion to rework the vintage ones scource
(and usually in need of some major TLC)
into wonderful, one-of-a-kind, toasty work of wearable art!

During this time of year I become an overtime poet of major sweater mutilation...

After all these years...one of the most popular items I design and create are still our re-worked/upcycled sweaters & cardigans. Over the last 10 years I've made thousands of handmade sweaters & they're still one of my most fave things to create!

Tomorrow we head off to Vancouver Island to set up for our 2nd holiday market of the year!
The Out of Hand Show starts on Friday November 28th and goes to Sunday November 30th.
