It's that time of year again!
Time for the most beloved indie designer blow out sale of the year!
The 8th Annual Nifty for Fifty Sale!

Nifty for Fifty Sale Brings Together Local Designers
Shopping Sale Enters its Eighth Successful Season

Vancouver’s 8th annual Nifty for Fifty sale is set to bring together 30 local designers and artists under one roof on April 19th, 2015. Just in time for locals to stock up on spring staples, the event will be held at Heritage Hall (3102 Main Street, Vancouver, BC) from 11am – 8pm, and will host some of Vancouver’s finest indie designers, including Adhesif Clothing, Allison Wonderland, Elroy Apparel, Bronsino, KDON, Bueno Style, WE3 Designs and many more.

The annual event started out as a glorified fashion garage sale and over the past eight years has turned into a ‘Boxing Day in April’ for the local Vancouver community.

The event now hosts hundreds of people who come to scour the racks for great finds. Nifty for Fifty vendors offer affordable art and fashion, with every unique item priced at under $50. Those who attend can expect to find up to 80% off of some of their favourite pieces.

“We started Nifty for Fifty with only a few designers.
It was a very small show,” said event producer and Adhesif Clothing designer Melissa Ferreira. “Every year I get so excited to see how the show grows in popularity with locals and look forward to being able to showcase new designers and artists and introduce them to a new audience.”

Guests should arrive early to get their hands on the most unique and eye catching designs. Admission for Nifty for Fifty is $1 at the door, and most vendors will only be accepting cash.

 About Nifty for Fifty
Nifty for Fifty was launched by self-taught Adhesif Clothing designer Melissa Ferreira in 2007 as a way for local designers to clear out merchandise, and shoppers to get a great deal on unique items.

Entering its eighth successful season, what started out as a show with only a few vendors has grown into an event where 30 Vancouver designers gather to showcase their items.

Known as Boxing Day in April, the sale only happens once a year, for one day only and offers an
affordable option for unique pieces.

Welcome Back West Coast Spring

The Spring

Now that the winter's gone, the earth hath lost
Her snow-white robes, and now no more the frost

Candies the grass, or casts an icy cream
Upon the silver lake or crystal stream;

But the warm sun thaws the benumbed earth,
And makes it tender; gives a sacred birth

To the dead swallow; wakes in hollow tree
The drowsy cuckoo, and the humble-bee.

Now do a choir of chirping minstrels bring
In triumph to the world the youthful Spring.
Poem by Thomas Carew

I was born 4 days after spring.
It's one of those seasons that breaks the quiet dormancy with it's light. It brings a smile to my face to see little green shoots sprouting all about the earth and buds forming on the branches of neighborhood trees.

It's a new awakening...you can feel the anticipation of new life emerging all around you...

Spring on the West Coast is particularly lovely.
The magnolia trees, the wide variety of cherry blossoms...one can't help but feel lifted with the thought of summer around the bend...

I've lived on the West Coast for over 20 years now and I feel so fortunate to have been surrounded with such an abundance of nature. The beauty of the West Coast definitely creates a calm within the spirit which I think attributes to the care free spirits that inhabit this part of the world.

As a designer, it seems only natural to create a
Spring Collection inspired by the West Coast.

For Spring Summer 2015 I wanted to capture the free spirit and rocker chic vibe of the music festival scene, while incorporating a natural look so synonymous with West Coast Living.
I love the Woodstock era and all things wild child. I wanted this new collection to be reminiscent of that era, but with a light and airy modern touch.

The Nico Kimono is hands down my favourite piece from the Spring-Summer 2015 collection. Made from vintage fabrics, the contrast lining and collar details make this kimono light and versatile.

Adhesif’s eye-catching, handmade garments are designed with older textiles and reclaimed materials for better quality and each piece is created with 95% sustainable materials. Monochromatic schemes and colour palettes and clean silhouettes define the effortlessly chic spring-summer collection.

Not from around here?
No sweat!
