One of my absolute favorite things to do is to people watch.
I get a tonne of inspiration when I see someone doing their own thing with their style.
I often stop people who come into my shop, at my events and on the street when I see them putting together a unique look or if they're wearing something that stands out, then I take their picture if they're into it...
I've always said that style is the simplest form of self expression.
What you wear says a lot about your personality without even having to say a word...
My first love has always been vintage fashion.
I often get asked "what is vintage?"
Well, definition-ally "vintage clothing" consists of clothing & accessories that are at least
20 years old or older.
With that said my heart lies in much of the style from the 1920's-1970's and I definitely try to emulate aspects from those decades in all of my collections but with a modern twist.
Fashion for some people (especially in the West Coast) is particularly functional or utilitarian and I base that on the fact that there's such an outdoorsy life style here.
Personally I don't consider rain jackets, sweatpants and rain boots all that fashionable but they certainly do serve a purpose in rainy conditions.
Don't get me wrong here, I have a sense of humor when it comes to expressing yourself with fashion...take these red soccer inspired BACON SOCKS for example...
Cute...but mostly HILARIOUS!!!
(I actually slow clapped when this gal walked into my shop...just sayin)
This gal above came into my shop to find a belt and bag to go with her gray non-traditional wedding dress and suede burgundy heels.
What an AMAZING combo! LOVE!
How excellent is this Victorian inspired outfit??
(above)
Snapped a pic of this lovely lady at a fashion show for local corset maker Lace & Brace Atelier.
I'm a sucker for vintage eye wear!!
I'm also a sucker for carefree wild spirits!
If I could get a dollar for every person who`s come into my shop, over the last 6 years, who`s asked me to come home and dress them!
(I'd be a couple hundred dollars richer...haha)
I`m BIG into playing with layers as seen with this gal above.
She was so impressed with how easy it is to transform an outfit just by throwing on our reversible Uptown Vest, leather Obi belt and metallic embroidered eyeball shoes that she left with the whole outfit!
Same same...but different :-)
The coolest thing about Adhesif Clothing is every garment is completely unique because each piece is made with up to 95% reclaimed and vintage fabrics.
Same design but with a unique AND eco friendly composition means you get to have the only one of it`s kind in the whole world while being kind to the planet.
That`s pretty darn special...just like you!
I LOVE snapping pics of happy customers at my shows!
This gal (above) was wearing a floral printed blouse that ended up matching the Nico Kimono she acquired at our Circle Craft booth last year!
(...seriously though...her little flats had cat faces on the toes! TOO CUTE!)
The Floret Jacket is our signature design since 2007
The jacket design is hand pleated + made with vintage wool blankets in the contrast.
I call this one, leaving a lasting impression ;-)
xo We love a little vintage glam xo
French girls...what can I say but Magnifique!
Snapped a pic of these 2 SUPER cool chicks on the streets of Paris (above) a few years back.
THIS is a perfect example of how to mix and match prints and patterns which is so extremely HOT right now in the fashion styling.
One of my favorite things to do (wherever my schedule permits) is collaborating in creative photo shoots. I did a really cool one last year with a creative team from Vancouver, BC and we produced some really stunning results.
I put together 8 looks that showcased my idea of upscale urban looks with a vintage twist.
I have been collecting vintage for well over 20 years now (it's a bit of an obsession) so I pulled items from my own collection with a mix of designs from Adhesif Clothing's Collections which resulted in getting published in the most recent issue for U.S publication Belle Armoire magazine!
